Phone conversation

On Adobe audition we had to edit a conversation over the phone, modifying the voices that are talking.

By using this tool 'Amplify' I was able to change the frequency of voice and make it so it sounded like it was on a phone line.

By cutting out the low and high Hz of the sound it made the voice sound as if it was coming out of a phone. This is something that I think I will definitely be using in the future. I'm really happy with the outcome of the voice. I think it's very convincing that the voice is coming from a phone.

Another tool I used for the other voice is called convulsion reverb.

This helped turn a sound with a lot of reverb from a bathroom in to that of a bathroom with less reverb but still somewhat realistic.

Here I can control how I want the sound to be effected by the environment. If I think one of the voices has too much reverb I can fix that by turning it down. I changed one of my voices by turning down the mix and gain. This worked really well for my voices. I think this is also another tool I'll be using in the future (especially for the film festival project) if I ever wanted to modify someones voice to match an environment/room that they're in.

This is the recording of my phone conversation edit.

I will use this in my film festival scene from Halloween as the character in it is seen on her phone to her friend before seeing a menacing figure in her back garden. This effect will come in very handy for when we shoot the character on their phone. In general I think this is a very important thing to remember and use for not just this project.
