Sound tracks can be broken down in to the following components:

• Tempo
• Dynamics
• Rhythm
• melody
• texture

Why is music important?

Score AKA music depending on how well it's done can enhance the audience's connection and grip to the film. If a piece of music complements well with the scene it can Make scenes feel more emotional and intense. 

what is tempo

Tempo is the speed of a piece of music and is measured in BPM (beats per minute). Fast tempos are good in scenes with a lot of actions while slow is for scenes that maybe don't have as much action. 

What is dynamics 

Dynamics is the range of the music. It's the ratio levels of intensity in the music. Measuring the change between the quiet silent sounds changing to the more aggressive loud sounds.  

Horror films usually have high dynamics in their sound tracks to build up tension for a jump scare.

What is rhythm?

Rhythm is what guides the music and is the heart beat of the tune/song. It's usually generated by drums but can also be played by other instruments. 

What is melody?

Is the tune in a piece of music. It's usually what people remember most in the music and can be very catchy. This can also be used to associate with a character. When this happens the melody can be slowed down and have higher pitches to make the theme seem sadder resembling how the character is currently feeling. This is called LEITMOTIF. 

What is texture?

Texture refers to the layers a piece of music has. The amount instruments playing at the same time. When three layer are playing at the same time and they constantly rise in pitch it is called a Shepard tone. This can confuse the brain and make the brain feel like the sound of a music is constantly rising continuously. 

GarageBand Blinding lights 

This is my Garage band sound file for blinding lights. In this we had to play the blinding lights tunes on the computer keyboards and change the instruments as well as instrument settings. 

Other than trying to time the instruments I found this task surprisingly easy and I think this piece of software will come in handy for making my film scene. I think this will be very useful if I need to make a song. Keeping in mind the five components that make a song I think I could make some interesting song to complement the scene I will film with my other class mate Louis.
