This is my final Mario game scene.
For the flock of birds I used the stereo balance (the turned clock wise wheel) and the panning tool (the blue line going up) so that the birds travel from the right ear to the left ear. I found this really important and I think this will become incredibly important for the future. Especially for things moving from the left side of the screen to the right.

As you can see the stereo wheel is turned to the right so the birds are coming from this side and the panning tool moves it to the left side.
In this task we as a class had to add and modify sound to fit the Mario Odyssey teaser trailer. Adding in music as well as sound effects to create a more lively animation to perform in the video. We used techniques such as panning and changing the stereo (this means to change what ear piece of a head phone your choosing to listen through).
First we were given a wetransfer download link which gave us the video and a few sound effects to use for the video. This included jungle sound as well as waterfall sounds and some music along with other sound effects.
The first thing I did was add in the jungle waterfall sounds to fit with the scene. Then I turned down the sound of the waterfall and looped the track as it wasn't long enough.

This allowed for the sound of the waterfall to not over crowed the rest of the other tracks. After that I added the birds tweeting and used the panning tool as well as the stereo sound I talked about earlier. This changed the ear pieces of the birds when they were flying. So they went from the right ear piece to the left. I did this by making the birds come from the right and then using the panning tool to make the sound move to the other ear piece.
Then I added music to go in the background. This didn't need any editing whatsoever which saved time. Something else I did was adding in different footsteps to the dinosaur every time it moved in the video. I did this to make the footsteps feel more real. No-one makes the same sound every time they walk and take a step. So I made sure to use different footsteps every time it took a step. Every time it took a step without the sound in the video I would press the key 'v'. This would add markers so I would know where to place the foot steps for the dinosaur. These markers were crucial in having these foot steps in time with the visuals. I added two different tail swings for the dinosaur. they were actually the same swing sounds I just changed the amplitude and volume for the second one to make it feel different and more powerful. Changing the amplitude was something I learnt from the phone conversation editing lesson. You can find this lesson the page phone conversation above. Finally, the last thing I added in this audition was the roar. I originally found the roar to be quite pathetic for the dinosaur. It didn't feel as powerful or intimidating which is what I wanted for this sound track to go with the video. I also found the audio to not be long enough. To fix these two issues I cut, pasted and merge the same track of the roar. I then increased and decreased the new joined track to seem louder and more threatening.

I also used the realtime effect which allowed me to change the pitch. In this case I lowered the pitch to make a deeper roar for the dinosaur. This worked really well. Definitely a tool I'll be using in the future.

The real time tool is a new skill I learnt when making this Mario sound video. It allows me to change the pitch of a sound. Modifying sounds to be higher or lower.
Overall with this side project I've learnt a lot including how to make sounds deeper and lighter as well as how to pan sounds from one headpiece to the other. Creating new realistic experiences. I found this experience really helpful when working with sound, it has definitely improved my audio skills and will help a lot when editing other performance captures. If there's any sounds that sound funny I feel like I would be able to fix some of the issues on Adobe Audition. Something I think I could've done to improve my Mario video is maybe add some faint dinosaur foot steps before coming on screen. I feel like this would've made the experience a little better and more realistic. But overall I'm proud of this piece of work and how it turned out.
